LeelaShıft™
Leadership development for nurses
One kind step at a time.
LeelaShift™ is a twelve week program for nurses at every stage of leadership: nurses ready to take their first step into leadership, graduate nursing students, charge nurses and new managers finding their footing, directors growing their reach, and executives shaping whole systems. Ten to fifteen minutes a day, five domains, and Leela, an AI coach who knows every lesson and speaks to your level.
Nurses and nurse leaders are busy, and a full day of leadership development is often out of reach. LeelaShift infuses leadership knowledge into every day, a little at a time, where it can actually change how you lead.
Why LeelaShift exists
Most nurse leaders are promoted because they were excellent at the bedside. Then they are handed a unit, a budget, a schedule, and forty people's hopes and frustrations, often with a two day orientation and a crowded inbox. They carry their teams, their patients, and their organizations, too often without the support, the preparation, or the people beside them that the role deserves.
And when it comes, their development usually arrives as an event: a workshop, a retreat, a one day course scheduled far from the unit and forgotten by the next shift, long before it can be applied under pressure. Leadership does not grow that way. It grows the way clinical practice grows: a little every day, chosen on purpose, applied at work, reflected on, and applied again. Nurses and nurse leaders can rarely step away for a full day, so the learning has to come to them, on their terms.
LeelaShift brings leadership development into the day you already have: ten to fifteen minutes, wherever you are, with one practice you choose and apply intentionally at work. It meets you where you are, whether you are a nurse ready to take your first step into leadership, a graduate nursing student, a charge nurse or new manager finding your footing, a director growing your reach, or an executive shaping a whole system.
I have spent about twenty years in nursing, from the neonatal unit to directing graduate leadership programs, and I have watched the same pattern over and over: when a nurse leader thrives, the team thrives, nurses stay, and patients are safer. When a nurse leader burns out, everything downstream frays. The research says the same thing in numbers.
And thriving leaders cannot do it alone. No matter how much we invest in nurses, they cannot thrive in a system that does not let them grow. Resilient people need resilient systems: workplaces with safe staffing, a voice in decisions, and room to learn. That is why LeelaShift grows leaders at every level, so they can build the units, departments, and organizations where nurses and the people they care for can flourish.
Kindness has changed what I believe about leadership. Kindness is not softness. It shows in what you do, why you do it, how present you are, how warm you stay under pressure, and how you engage with people. I have come to believe it is the most practical leadership skill there is, and that it can be practiced, one day at a time.
LeelaShift is the program I wish someone had put in my hands when I first led a team, and the one I would still want today. It is for nurses who lead and nurses ready to lead: the nurse stepping into leadership before the title, the graduate nursing student, the charge nurse or new manager in the first hard year, the director growing their reach, and the executive shaping a whole system. Ten to fifteen minutes a day, fitted into the busiest schedule. One small shift. Twelve weeks. A coach who is always there. And a quiet promise behind every lesson: there is a way.
Kindness in leadership is not a mood. It is a practice: intentional, present, warm, and engaged, chosen many times a day.Dr. Jihane Frangieh, PhD, MSN, RN, CNE, founder of LeelaShift
What you practice
Leadership is not one skill. It is a way of being steady in yourself, present with people, rigorous about care, wise with resources, and brave with your voice. Each domain has its own color, its own lessons, and its own practices for your level.
How a week works
Every week begins with your roots, because nothing grows without them. Then you choose your path through the other four domains. Day 6 is a little joy. Day 7 is the look back, and your wings.
Your journey
Foundations: values, presence, the science of safety, finance basics, and your professional home.
Practical tools: confidence, hard conversations, conflict, public speaking, Lean and implementation science, budgets, and using AI wisely.
Complex and systemic: high reliability, teams under pressure, the business case, leading AI responsibly, policy, and succession.
After twelve weeks, graduates can stay with us in Sheltering, with Leela as their coach, connections with other leaders if they choose, and a voice in policy and advocacy.
Meet Leela
Leela is an AI coach built on the eight competencies of professional coaching and on every lesson in the program. She remembers your context, asks one question at a time, and speaks differently to a charge nurse, a director, and a chief nursing officer. Her name means joyful creation, meditation, and play, because leadership is serious work, and that is exactly why she will not let you take everything too seriously.
Leela is an AI coach inspired by Dr. Frangieh's work. She is not a therapist and not a substitute for the people in your life.
Why you can trust it
Every lesson rests on named sources: systematic reviews, meta analyses, and studies in nursing leadership, safety, finance, and organizational science. The science is a tap away inside each day.
A short check at the start, at the end of each month, and at graduation, built on validated measures of wellbeing and thriving. You watch your own growth across the five domains.
Your reflections, your journal, your check ins, and your conversations with Leela belong to you. No one else sees them, not your organization and not your manager, even when your organization pays for your seat. Only numbers, combined across many nurses and never tied to a name, are used to evaluate and improve the program. Connecting with other leaders is your choice: opt in to be introduced, and opt out any time.
Who it is for
On your own. Any nurse can enroll today: nurses preparing to lead, graduate nursing students, and leaders at every level, from charge nurse and manager to director and executive. Choose the level you lead at, or the one you are growing toward. Begin with your roots, and keep the pace that fits your life. Your journey, your journal, and your conversations with Leela are yours alone.
With your organization. Enroll your nurses and leaders together, from staff nurses preparing to lead to charge nurses, managers, and directors, with group pricing for larger numbers. Each nurse works at their own level while the whole group shares a language of leadership. What each nurse writes and answers stays private to that nurse; the organization sees who is enrolled, nothing more.

It is a web app: open it once in your browser, add it to your home screen, and it opens like any other app, with your journey waiting where you left it.
Leave your email and we will write when the first cohort opens, for individuals and for teams. First cohorts are small, so that every nurse is heard.
